Retiring Soon With VA Coverage: When to Enroll in Medicare Part B

VA health coverage does not count as qualifying employer coverage for a Part B SEP. When you retire, use your open 8-month SEP window if employer coverage ends too. Missing the SEP means GEP and a permanent 10% per year penalty.
